WITH N15M DONATION, ONWA SAM ANYAMELE HOLDS THE GOLD PLAQUE OF THE IBB GOLF CLUB
At all times, Onwa Ngwa, Sam Anyamele, believes that when you build a legacy for people, you build your own. And this is what Onwa Anyamele has been doing over the years. He has especially been giving to the game of golf which he holds so passionately to his heart.
Onwo began his golfing at the Enugu Golf Club. For years, he poured in resources so that the club could keep pace with popular clubs at the time, especially lkoyi, Ibadan, Kaduna and Port Harcourt Golf Clubs. Onwa later rose to be the captain of the club, and with such no-nonsense attitude, he carried out several reforms in that club. It is instructive to note that it was at this stage that Onwa stepped on the toes of so many powerful and wealthy people who were encroaching on the Enugu Course to erect magnificent buildings. This is typical of Onwa.
Always he would have a smile on his face but he is ever prepared to fight for issues he strongly believes in. After this, Onwa moved on as patron of the entire Enugu Sports Club.
It was soon time to move to a bigger stage and Onwa did this in style when he joined some powerful individuals to become a foundation member of the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja. If you enter the Club House of the IBB Club today, you will see a roll call of donors at the IBB Golf Club. Onwa’s name features on the gold plaque. This means he has donated over N15 million to the club. This is one of the several donations he has made to the club.
The man has equally assisted several clubs across the country, especially the Aba Golf Club and the Arsenal Club in Owerri, Imo State.
When Onwa Anyamele arrives at any place, you will hardly see him. He is not arrogant. He is not belligerent. He is not short tempered and he hates unpretentious luxury. He is forever in pursuit of truth and fairness. He has got a ruthless drive coupled with a touch of humility, but this is definitely not a man you will want to take for granted for you will get a hint of power when you shake him. All the same, no matter how bad things turn out, to Onwa, it’s cheers.
These days, Onwa takes pride in seeing his effort at building the Sunday Kitty fluttering across the IBB Golf Club.
